The lighthouse and the observer · “I am in a simulation”

A reel featuring a digital lighthouse was found on the Instagram account im.in.simulation. The tower is assembled from glowing green points; its beam passes over the sea. Frames from the same reel show rooms as parts of a loading world: one is marked “You”, with “Observer” nearby. The lighthouse, rooms and an observer form a combination familiar to the Elias Thorn project.

The project’s Telegram channel, BAOBAB, calls itself an archive of “reality bugs”. Its authors describe perception as an interface and memories as records, and compare a person to a trained model. Across their posts, a question recurs: what remains outside the field of view, and how far can one trust memory? On Telegram, they distinguish observable effects from the simulation hypothesis.

Similar images hold different questions. In the reel, rooms mark the boundary between what is visible and what remains behind the observer. In Elias’s stories, the lighthouse is connected to a log, time and another person’s reply; the rooms hold what was absent from the plan. The resemblance concerns imagery and themes; it does not by itself establish shared authorship or borrowing.

The reel carries an “AI content” label. This raises another question: what role do generative tools play in the return of similar images and stories? The label does not identify the model, prompts or sources. The resemblance merits further comparison; there is currently no evidence of copying this project or transferring memory from private AI conversations.
